Madou Wendan - Taiwan Pomelo (3kgs/5-8pcs)

The pomelo is traditionally associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival, they are one of the gifts of choice for the festival, along with various styles of moon cake! 

The pomelo’s scientific name is Citrus maxima, a reference to its very substantial size and has many similarities to the grapefruit, which is in fact a hybrid of pomelo and the mandarin. Taiwan prides itself on the outstanding quality of its indigenous pomelos (Wendan) with the most highly prized fruit come from Madou in Tainan,  being smaller fruits borne from very old trees sometimes up to 60-70 years old. 

Freshly harvested wendan have not reached their peak of deliciousness the excess water will evaporate and the sweetness of the flesh increases. You will often see many cheap pieces in supermarkets and fruit markets but those are usually poor quality fruits that are dry and flavourless. The best pieces on the other hand have enormous subtlety of flavour, are sweeter and less sour than the grapefruit and have a delicate citrus aroma. 

The size, weight, appearance, colour, and shape of each fruit are not uniform. If there are flaws on the top, it is a normal fruit phenomenon and does not mean that it has deteriorated. No return or exchange due to personal problems as above  🙏🏻
